  1. My apologies as earlier, i incorrectly posted this to another of your blogs. GC

    Dear AHJ,

I was thrilled to find your blog & with it a tangible link to my family history during WW1.
Your post on driver Herbert Benjamin Chatten was of particular interest as Herbert's brother was my great grandfather.

It's amazing that so much family history is at ones fingertips, helped hugely by time spent by my father compiling records for www.ukchattens.net

Out of interest, does Herbert's medal trio have a particular significance to you and would you perhaps condsider selling it in order that it could be reunited with the Chatten family?
I hope that you don't object to me asking.

    Regards, Guy Chatten

    1. Dear Guy,firstly thank you very much for your kind comments. I enjoy researching medals and sharing my findings and it is pleasing to know that they may sometimes find an appreciative audience. I am fond of the trio as they are the first medals I ever remember collecting. However, in the spirit of 'do as you would be done by' I would be very happy to discuss selling it back into the family. Perhaps you would like to email me directly - I think this may be possible via my profile? If not, please leave a response here. Yours. Anthony

    2. Dear Anthony,
Thank you for your reply - for some reason, I wasn't expecting one!
I must admit that this is a relatively new interest to me but bought to the fore having just returned (today) from my first visit to Ypres. (I researched my family history before leaving)
We visited the Menin Gate & Tyne Cot and a few years earlier my parents visited the grave of Herbert Chatten where he rests in Calais.

I am delighted that you'd consider selling the medals and would be delighted too to continue our conversation by email - my address I posted to your Google+ account (I think!)

      Thanks again for replying.
      Kind regards,
      Guy
